Started making a Big Bag. This is another Jenny Doan tutorial. I really love Jenny Doan’s tutorials. They are so easy to follow. I’m still on step one. Posted below is a picture of my Big Bag. I finally finished the bag, March 22, 2014. I gave it to a friend who is relocating to North Carolina.
I’ve been searching the internet to find quick ways to make HSTs. I want to demo this technique at my quilt guild. The one I saw Jenny Doan demo, by far is the quickest. She used a light and dark 5″ square. She placed right sides together. Then she sewed a 1/4″ seam around the entire block; sizes can vary. Then she cut the square on the diagonal; opposite corner to corner; making four HSTs from that square. Many quilters use this technique. The photo below shows the steps.
I have two new challenges. One is with the Tea Cups; black and white borders. The other one is for the NJMQG; using our colors to make a 121/2 inch modern block. What modern means to you? is the question. Last night I was just tinkering with some 5″ squares. I’m making half square triangles, so I’m trying to find the quickest and easiest way to make them. I’ve also signed up to give a 15 minute demo. I’ve decide to demo Three Easy Ways to Make Half Square Triangles.
This is my first post on this blog. I’m going to use this blog to keep track of my UFOs (unfinished projects), and my three new challenges that I have to begin.
